At Rubber Duck Cars, we work hard to keep our cars competitively priced while also making sure they’re properly prepared and supported. With rising costs across the board, we’ve introduced a £99 admin fee on all cars sold to help cover the real-world costs of delivering this level of service.
Below is a breakdown of what you get included in your Retail Preparation fee, and why it represents great value.
What’s Included in the £99 Retail Preparation Fee:

Full HPI & History Check
Every vehicle is Experian / HPI clear, and we provide confirmation that the car has no outstanding finance, hasn’t been stolen or written off, and that the mileage is genuine. -
Pre-Delivery Mechanical Inspection
All cars are thoroughly checked by our in-house technicians. If any issues are flagged, they’re rectified before you get it. -
New MOT Where Due
If a car has less than 6 months MOT remaining, we carry out a fresh 12-month MOT prior to sale. No cutting corners or passing advisories on to you. We have independent MOT testers who “check our homework” ensuring that the cars have been prepared to a great standard. -
Outstanding MOT Advisories Rectified
We don’t sell cars with a list of advisories. If something is picked up during MOT, we fix it. -
Manufacturer Recall Checks
We check for any outstanding manufacturer recalls and get them sorted before you collect the car. -
Interior & Exterior Valet
Every car goes through a full valet before handover so it looks and feels fresh when you drive it away. -
3-Month Warranty
We include a 3-month in-house warranty to give you peace of mind. We handle claims directly and work with trusted repairers. -
No Quibble Service
If you experience a fault with your new car, don’t worry – you’re not on your own. We pride ourselves in sorting any unexpected mechanical failures without hassle. -
Free Courtesy Car
If something goes wrong with your car, we’ll keep you mobile whilst your car is fixed! -
Free Recovery
In the rare event of your purchase being undriveable, we wouldn’t expect you to pick up the tab to get it brought back to us to sort! -
Number Plates Replaced
New number plates are fitted to every car as standard. It’s a small detail, but it makes a difference to how your car looks. -
Other Perks
You receive a discount on your next service and MOT. Full service and MOT for £199, free puncture repairs for life, and no-cost healthchecks! -
DVLA Admin & Tax Set-Up
We handle all the paperwork with DVLA, transfer ownership, and help sort your tax before you leave.
Why the £299 Broker Fee?
We charge £299 for customers using a third-party finance broker, as these cases involve significantly more admin and compliance work than when using our approved panel.
If you choose to arrange your own finance through a third-party broker (like Zuto or CarFinance247), there’s a lot of extra work at our end – plus these brokers often charge us to process their deals. To cover this, a £299 broker admin fee applies. This is common practice across the industry.
